Thanks For Dropping In!

The Church That Never Closes is located on a quiet, residential street in Staten Island, New York. On July 1, 2007 we unlocked our front doors and since then they have never been locked. Our sanctuary is open for prayer 24/7. In the past three years thousands of people have found peace, healing and hope in this sacred space. Some have called us the little church of miracles.

The Church That Never Closes is more than a building. We are a congregation of about 75 members and adherents who seek to apply the teachings of Jesus to all aspects of our lives. Although we come from many traditions – evangelical, mainline Protestant, Roman Catholic and Pentecostal – we are united in our desire to be a living sign of God’s love.

Although our official name is the Reformed Church of Prince Bay, we prefer to be known by our nickname: The Church That Never Closes.

Explore our website for more information about us. And come by to pray or to participate in the many events that take place throughout the week.

We welcome you in the name of Jesus!

Do You Have A Green Thumb? Enjoy Nature?...

Bountiful Harvest

awaits you and can use your help...

Thought for the Week

The essence of prayer is being with God as we are, opening ourselves to the amazing possibilities that come with knowing God, and allowing ourselves to be known by God. Each time we approach God in the spirit that Jesus suggested [in the Lord’s Prayer], we signal again that we are accepting God’s invitation to relationship. We are committing ourselves to God and to all the others who pray along with us. – Mary Lou Redding in The Lord’s Prayer: Jesus Teaches Us How to Pray, © Upper Room Books, 2011

The luncheon will take place on Thursday, May 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn. Tickets are $65 per person. Reservation forms will be available in the fellowship hall and the deadline is May 3. You can mail your reservation form and check directly to Project Hospitality or make a reservation with Deacon Eileen Johnson and then pay at the door.

Bountiful Harvest

We are seeking a new head gardener for Bountiful Harvest, the fruit and vegetable garden on the North Shore where we raise produce primarily for Project Hospitality’s food pantry in Stapleton. The head gardener oversees planning and trains and supervises volunteers. A green thumb is a must! Interested? See Deacon Isabelle Faust, coordinator of the church’s ministry of service.

Two Requests from Our Ministry of Fellowship

If you have get-well cards, condolence cards and encouragement cards that you no longer need, please put them in the basket on the table in the fellowship hall. The ministry’s new sender of cards, Rosalie Simoniello, will send them to church members/adherents on behalf of the entire congregation.

The ministry of fellowship is also collecting sample size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. to be taken by anyone who needs these items. There is a basket on the table in the fellowship hall. For additional information, please see Alicia Weise.

Our New Policy on Smoking

Our entire building is smoke-free. Smoking is permitted only in the parking lot. When smoking outdoors, please do not prop the side door open, so that smoke will not drift into the building.

Reservations Being Taken for Passover Supperr annual Passover supper will take place on Holy Thursday, April 5, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Reservations are required and the cost is $10. Brochures with reservation forms will be available in the fellowship hall. The deadline is Sunday, April 1.

Bob55, our discussion group for men seeking victory over addictions will meet at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary (note the new location). The group also meets on Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Can You Help?

Here is a partial list of the items currently needed in our food pantry and kitchen: meats of any kind, eggs, brown sugar, beef broth, cans of tomato paste, small squeeze bottle of lemon juice, jars of red peppers, packaged mash potato mix, Splenda, decaf coffee, honey, barley, soy sauce and cans of evaporated milk. Kitchen and cleaning supplies include: dish washing liquid, dishwasher liquid, Brillo or SOS pads, napkins, gallon size plastic food storage bags, tall white kitchen garbage bags.

Our Meals Together

One of the beautiful characteristics of the early church is that they eagerly shared what they had with one another (see Acts 4:32). in that spirit, we encourge all who are able to bring food (or ingredients) to share with others at our three weekly meals: Sunday fellowship hour, Sunday supper and Thursday supper. and Thursday supper
