Thanks For Dropping In!
The Church That Never Closes is located on a quiet, residential street in Staten Island, New York. On July 1, 2007 we unlocked our front doors and since then they have never been locked. Our sanctuary is open for prayer 24/7. In the past three years thousands of people have found peace, healing and hope in this sacred space. Some have called us the little church of miracles.
The Church That Never Closes is more than a building. We are a congregation of about 75 members and adherents who seek to apply the teachings of Jesus to all aspects of our lives. Although we come from many traditions – evangelical, mainline Protestant, Roman Catholic and Pentecostal – we are united in our desire to be a living sign of God’s love.
Although our official name is the Reformed Church of Prince Bay, we prefer to be known by our nickname: The Church That Never Closes.
Explore our website for more information about us. And come by to pray or to participate in the many events that take place throughout the week.
We welcome you in the name of Jesus!

ANNOUNCING . . .
The Greatest Story --
An overview of the entire Bible
in sixteen exciting sessions
Fridays from 7:00 to 8:55 p.m.
Beginning March 2, 2012
Registration began on January 15th
A Comment from a Previous Participant:
“I learned that the characters in the Bible – with their strengths and weaknesses, sins and struggles with God – are no different from us! I enjoyed learning about the history of God’s people and seeing where I fit in the picture. I also learned how important it is to put ego, self and pride aside and to reach out more to others.” – Joe Pratti
“You are invited to see where you fit in the greatest story and how the greatest story fits in your life. Don’t worry if you know little or nothing about the Bible. No prior experience or special training is needed. Just bring an open mind and heart. God’s Spirit will be present to help you hear God’s Word speak through the Bible and through the words of others who are here with you.” (from the participants study guide)

Thought for the Week
Get into the habit of saying, “Speak, Lord” (1 Samuel 3:9). Every time circumstances press in on you, say, “Speak, Lord,” and make time to listen. As we listen, our ears become more sensitive, and like Jesus, we will hear God all the time. – Oswald Chambers in My Utmost for His Highest © 1992, Discovery House

The Lord's Prayer: Jesus Teaches Us To How To Pray
Our Father, who art in heaven...
With these familiar words we begin The Lord’s Prayer, a prayer we’ve probably said thousands of times. This study will give participants an opportunity to look deep into the significance of each phrase of this beloved prayer and discover that those who prayer this prayer from the heart are asking for a deep relationship with God, not a casual or superficial conversation (from the introduction to the study guide published in 2011 by The Upper Room®). The course is free. The cost of the participant’s study guide is $16. Participants may purchase their own copy or borrow one. Those who borrow a study guide should purchase a notebook for recording responses to the questions in the study guide.
The Greatest Story is a sixteen session Bible study the offers an overview of the entire Bible. This course is excellent for those who are seeking to understand the main themes of the Bible and want to become familiar with its structure. An excellent study guide and many useful handouts are included. The course begins on Friday, March 2 and continues for 16 sessions through June 16 (except April 6). Sessions will meet from 7:00 to 8:55 p.m. Registration material is available on the table in the church life information center. Or you may call 718-984-7274 to make your reservation. Reservations close February 19,2012.
The Third Annual Service of Worship in Memory of Rev. F. Scott Petersen
will take place on Sunday, March 18 at 5:00 p.m. The offering given at this service is for the Rev. F. Scott Petersen Fund, which provides scholarships for our four members who are attending seminary. Please save the date.

Zion Church in West Brighton, which is our “partner” church in the Project Hospitality network of churches that provide overnight shelter. Can You Help?
Here is a partial list of the items currently needed in our food pantry and kitchen: meats of any kind, eggs, brown sugar, beef broth, cans of tomato paste, small squeeze bottle of lemon juice, jars of red peppers, packaged mash potato mix, Splenda, decaf coffee, honey, barley, soy sauce and cans of evaporated milk. Kitchen and cleaning supplies include: dish washing liquid, dishwasher liquid, Brillo or SOS pads, napkins, gallon size plastic food storage bags, tall white kitchen garbage bags.
One of the beautiful characteristics of the early church is that they eagerly shared what they had with one another (see Acts 4:32). in that spirit, we encourge all who are able to bring food (or ingredients) to share with others at our three weekly meals: Sunday fellowship hour, Sunday supper and Thursday supper. and Thursday supper
